7. Getting started
To get started, you need the following.
some data (text, images, numbers)
a problem to solve (yes-no, insight, etc.)
8. Programming
Programming:
Python can be used to glue together parts.
Do not expect to write a lot of core functionality Python code. Instead, find existing libraries, how to use them, and use Python to glue everything together.
9. Requirements
Submit a document in
docx format (Open XML Document). The document should have the following sections.
Problem identification: One sentence description of the problem.
Problem background: One paragraph description of the problem.
Data: Short description of the data to be used, how it will be processed, etc.
Design: Preliminary design of the core functionality.
Test: How the minimal system will be used for testing or showing what is being done.
References: Any Internet or other references to data or software that will be used, etc.
The document should be most of a page but not more than two pages.
10. Style guidelines
The main title should be at the top in H1 style.
Section titles should be in H2 style.
Subsections titles should be in H3 style.
All program or command or command output text should be in a fixed font such as "Courier New".
All text should be in a serif font such as "Times New Roman".
If you use LibreOffice or OpenOffice instead of Microsoft Office you need to export your document file to the type docx and not the native format. Use the appropriate "Save As" command.
